Denox is used as pigment in primer paints and coatings. The hematite from which it is processed has a lamellar crystalline structure that aligns itself in a position somewhat parallel to the surface being coated, and in so doing provides a barrier that is resistant to moisture and ultraviolet rays (UV).
Denox is often used in urethane and epoxy coatings, as well as in zinc-rich primers. Denox is Densimix's finest grade. It is used in the production of color concentrates in such plastics as polypropylene, polyethylene, ABS and PVC. In glass manufacturing, Densfil and Densifil 100 are inexpensive source of iron. In the plastics industry, it is a filler, used as a weight additive, or as a weight additive for sound deadening, or both.
